B.D.F. Doctor Tests Positive for COVID-19

One of the new COVID victims is a frontline worker, Doctor Rahleel Elijio from the B.D.F., where a number of soldiers have also been infected. Doctor Elijio revealed he tested positive via Facebook, saying he is not ashamed of his status. Elijio says that, as a doctor, it is his duty to heal and do no harm to anyone. And it is his responsibility to inform those dear to him and those he has interacted with. By so doing, he is carrying out preventative measures to protect those who may not be as fortunate as he is in the fight against the virus.  But he warned of the stigma and discrimination that get in the way of the healing process of those infected. Anxiety, stress or depression, he says, could affect anyone who is discriminated against because of COVID-19. And while he has received support, there are rumours and gossiping which do not help those infected. Elijio also says he is stable and optimistic about overcoming the virus.
