Baby is Born in Police Station
While three cops went rogue over the weekend, two law enforcement offices are receiving praises for delivering a baby at the Mahogany Police Sub precinct. On Saturday morning a pregnant woman visited the precinct where her water bag broke. BERT was called but by that time the baby was well on its way. A G.S.U. officer and a W.P.C. quickly sprang into the action and safely delivered the baby. The mother and baby were then taken to the K.H.M.H. where they remain in good health. Commissioner Chester Williams this is only one of the many good things that the men and woman in the police department do.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“These two brave officers were on duty at Mahogany Street Police Station, I think it was on Friday, when a pregnant female arrived at the police precinct and she was in pain and while there her water bag broke. She went into labor. The police officers got into action and they delivered the child. BERT was called. When BERT came the child was already delivered. BERT cut the umbilical cord and the mother and the child were taken to the hospital where they are both in good health and spirit at this time. I believe the action of the police is one that is commendable. So I said to someone you know you have midwives but in this case Robert Sutherland is a mid-husband. But these are the things that go a very long way. You know often times we hear about the bad things that police officers do but there are a lot of good things that we do that goes unnoticed. So I am happy that this is one that the public sees and recognized that is being exceptionally done on the part of police.”
