M.O.H. is Capable of Conducting up to 26K COVID Tests
The present supply of resources available to the Ministry of Health can last up to nine months; that is with M.O.H. sharing drums of hand sanitizers and other items with various government departments, including customs and immigration. According to Doctor Gough, as many as twenty-six thousand COVID-19 tests can also be conducted with the existing supply.
Dr. George Gough, C.E.O., Ministry of Health
“We are aware that we are going to be faced with these cases that are going to be coming at us within the different institutions and obviously we are mindful that this supply cannot last forever, but we are quite confident that it would at least take us into the next nine months in a worst case scenario. Also this does not include the tendering process that we undertook earlier this year which does not have this type of quantity but do enjoy about fifteen to twenty percent of the numbers that I cited within our normal purchases that we do during the year of other materials, but these being COVID-related materials. I want to now bring to your attention about the test kits. The prime minister mentioned to me a little bit earlier that he wanted me to be more descriptive here. Presently at the central lab, our PCR, not the rapid, the solid PCR test that we are doing, we enjoy presently a stock to be able to do at least twenty-six thousand tests in the country. That‘s a very comfortable point and position at this time if we are to change our protocols a bit slightly.”
