There are concerns of possible exposure since Torres was not being treated in the COVID-19 isolation unit despite showing signs. According to Doctor Manzanero, Torres was isolated inside the I.C.U.

“I spoke briefly with CEO and the epidemiologist from Karl Huesner and my notes in that particular situation is that this person was placed in the containment area or the isolation area within the ICU. If you are having a highly suspect case then you treat him like a highly suspect case. So I am not so sure if within the ICU there would be any level of exposure.”

Torres is the nineteenth person to die due to the virus since the start of the pandemic in Belize.
