COVID-19 Vaccine Being Trial Tested, but Won’t Be Mass Produced until 2021

So while Doctor Manzanero says the positive cases are declining, government is looking at options. There are reports of several vaccines for the novel coronavirus in circulation, and today the Director of Health Services confirmed with News Five that the Government has signed off on a letter of intent that was sent by the Ministry of Health, through PAHO to its COVAX facility.  It provides for countries in the Americas to pool efforts to ensure access to COVID-19 vaccines. In fact, Doctor Manzanero confirmed that a Russian vaccine is undergoing phase three trial testing in the region.   But the DHS says that there won’t be mass production of the COVID-19 vaccine until the second quarter of 2021.

“We are aware that a Russian vaccine is being tested in phase three trial in some countries in the region.  We also know that the AstraZeneca Oxford vaccine that had been halted last week due to one side effect that had been reported, those have restarted, phase three has restarted. So we remain vigilant to see what happens in terms of vaccines. We also read the notes earlier today that the general consensus is that there is not going to be mass production of vaccines until maybe the second semester of 2021. So I guess when we all think about it, thinking about one year from now is when we can anticipate having any level of access.”
