PM Briceño Feeling Fine; Experts Working on Comprehensive COVID-19 Strategy

Turning to the health of Prime Minister John Briceño….Today, he thanked all those persons who have wished him a speedy recovery; the PM contacted the coronavirus and tested positive on Monday and is in isolation at this Orange Walk home. In a post on his Facebook, Briceño says that so far he is feeling fine and is working in quarantine pending word from the medical experts. He says that while he is always doing his utmost to wear a mask and physically distance from others, the job requires a lot of interaction with people and so he is glad that the infection was detected in the early stages to prevent any further spread.  The PM also implores everyone to take all necessary precautions against this dangerous disease saying that while many are doing the right thing, many others are not and so unwittingly spread the virus to those we love. One of the last acts of the previous government was to disband the National Oversight Committee; Briceño says that his medical and economic experts are hard at work finalizing a comprehensive countrywide COVID-19 strategy, which, he believes, will go a long way in combating the pandemic. But in the meantime, he says we must all do our part to stop the spread of the deadly virus. PM Briceño warned after his brief after assuming office that there was no plan in place to deal with the virus. Here is what he said:

Prime Minister John Briceño

“There is no real plan to contain the spread of the virus. Cabinet instructed the Minister of Health to meet with his technical team and advisors to develop a comprehensive plan to address the spread of this virus.  The plan will be presented to cabinet at its next meeting on Tuesday. While we expected it to be bad, the depths of mismanagement are truly scandalous. In addition to the presentation from the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the Minister of Infrastructure Development and Housing and the Minister for Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management will be preparing reports and assessments for our next cabinet meeting.”
