The People’s United Party has several area representatives that have contracted COVID-19.  Toledo East Area Representative Mike Espat is said to have recovered from the virus and so has Cayo West Area Representative Jorge “Milin” Espat. Dolores Balderamos Garcia, the Area Representative for Belize Rural Central, is in self-isolation. The Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff and Cabinet Secretary Stuart Leslie has also been declared clinically recovered.  C.E.O. in the Prime Minister’s Office Narda Garcia has also recovered.

“Minister of State Mike Espat, they refer to him as iron mike. He had a very bad accident about fifteen years ago and he was in coma about thirty days or so and then when we found that he had COVID, well he is a fighter. He does not give up. He is at work. He seems to be moving around and seems to be to doing fairly well. Now Jorge Milin Espat gave us a little scare for a little while because he was struggling for a while but fortunately we got the remdesivir, the medication and once we have it to him then he start to improve rather quickly. But he was never intubated so that is the big thing. Once they intubate that is when you get into trouble.  So Dolores yes she is also positive but she is asymptomatic. When I spoke to her she said she has no symptoms that COVID-19 will give you. So she is doing well.  Yes, my Chief of Staff, that is why I say I had here in my office you had my Chief of Staff that got sick also. He is recovered also, clinically recovered. I think he took a rapid test. He is at work now. He had to go to Belmopan today. So is Miss Narda Garcia, she is now at work today in Belmopan.”
