38 New Cases of COVID-19!
Thirty-eight new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed today. This number reflects samples processed between Sunday and today. One new COVID-19 related death was recorded, bringing the number to three hundred and two. The overall positivity rate is at nineteen point two percent with eleven thousand nine hundred and forty-five confirmed cases. Of that number, ninety-five percent have recovered, leaving two hundred and ninety cases active. Ten persons remain hospital and three in the Intensive Care Unit. Majority of the new cases were recorded in the Belize and Cayo District at ten and thirteen respectively. Today the Ministry of Health and Wellness announced that its offices in Belmopan would be temporarily closed to facilitate urgent sanitizing of the office. We are told that a staff member has tested positive for the virus. We can confirm that neither Michel Chebat nor the acting Director of Health Services, Dr Mellissa Diaz came in direct contact with the person.
