No COVID-19 Variant in Chetumal
Mexico has recorded the third highest number of COVID-19 deaths. Just Wednesday, the country had one thousand seven hundred and seven confirmed coronavirus deaths in one day. Last month, the new UK Variant was detected in that country. We asked Doctor Aguilar, who tests and treats COVID-19 patients in a public clinic in Chetumal, whether there have been any variants detected in state.
Dr. Rafael Angulo Aguilar, Jesus Cumate Rodriguez Hospital, Quintana Roo
“We haven’t detected any. For me, that is safe to say. We have in Mexico actually in one state in Guadalajara. That is the central part of Mexico. Right now, we haven’t met any detection, or the public officials haven’t made any communication with the public.”
On Thursday, it was reported that Mexico had run out of vaccines. The government recently granted authorization for the emergency use of the Russian vaccine, Sputnik Five. The first batch of vaccines that Mexico received was administered to healthcare workers who work directly with COVID patients.
