CitCo Ready to Comply with Health Officials on Contact Tracing
The institution was among the first to be hit with the pandemic; at the start of the pandemic in Belize, former employee Hubert Pipersburgh contracted the virus and died. Several other employees have also successfully recovered from COVID-19. But with municipal campaigns in motion, there are concerns about the interaction between Councillor Castellanos with staff and the public. According to PR Manager Erin Garnett, the councillor has not been to work for almost two weeks, but the council is working closely with the health officials.

“From what my knowledge is, I haven’t really seen him in the past week or so. We don’t have confirmation, because we are the Belize City Council, campaign information is mostly a party matter so we aren’t really briefed on the teams and who are out campaigning at this time. Haven’t really seen him for the past week, but I will say though, we are sending well wishes to him and his family. If you know Councillor Castellanos, he is such a vibrant man; very bubbly, excited, ready to get work done. So we are hoping for the best at this time, but he seems to be doing fine at this time. We haven’t seen him here for the past week or so, but we are going to leave that to the health authorities to do the proper contact tracing and obviously we are ready to comply with whatever is necessary and do our part.”
