M.O.H.W. Cautions Public: Don’t Get Complacent About Decrease in COVID Cases
For the past week, there have been zero deaths reported due to complications associated with the novel coronavirus; in fact, the infection rate has also reduced drastically as the number of new cases has been low. Despite the downward trend, the Ministry of Health and Wellness remains concerned about increased social and commercial activity. Acting Director of Health Services, Doctor Melissa Diaz-Musa cautions the public not to get complacent.

“My concern at this point, and the concern for all of us at the Ministry of Health and Wellness, is people letting down their guards, socializing, going places if it is not necessary, having parties, doing a lot of things that have been advised for them not to do. And that really is our concern. We know how the virus spreads and we know that with movement the virus will spread. And it seems over the last week or two, people have been moving around a lot, not adhering to the regulations, not adhering to the public health measures. So once this starts to happen, we will start to have increase numbers again. So I am really appealing to the general public to really take the responsibility and to employers and to business owners – follow the regulations, abide by the restrictions that we have in place. We don’t want to go into another lockdown; the country cannot afford that and we don’t want to overwhelm our health system.”
