COVID-19 Figures Down
Since the COVID-19 was first detected in Belize, there have been a total of twelve thousand three hundred and fifty-nine confirmed cases. Of those figures, three hundred and sixteen fatalities have been recorded and eleven thousand nine hundred and seventy-two have recovered. Fortunately, the number of active cases is down to sixty-five, despite four new cases being recorded on Thursday. It is marked improvement from where we once were months ago.
Michel Chebat, Minister of Health & Wellness
“Over the last two-three weeks, we have been seeing numbers below the double digits which has been excellent for us. It shows that there has been great effectiveness in the approach taken by the Ministry of Health and Wellness. It shows that the public understands the seriousness and they are cooperating. And so I think what we are seeing is a combination of the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the healthcare workers and the public working together to flatten this curve.”
