Weekend Lockdowns for Jamaica NOT Belize

The rumours about a pending three-weekend lockdown are false. News Five confirmed today with Minister of Home Affairs Kareem Musa that a document getting considerable social media buzz is not about Belize.  Minister Musa stressed the lockdown is for another Caribbean country that is seeing a spike in COVID-19 cases.

“In relation to the document that is currently being circulated, the information that I have gathered is that it is not that it is a fake document, it is a document that relates to Jamaica, I believe, a whole other country. What we have to realise right now in Belize is that we are leading; we are winning the war on COVID and so all of these other countries in the world like Jamaica, like countries in Europe are actually fully locking down and some of them imposing these very low curfews.”
