When Will a U.S. Ambassador to Belize be Chosen?
Chargé d’affaires Keith Gilges of the U.S. Embassy in Belize says his mission is coming to an end in the next four months. President Biden is expected to appoint an ambassador to Belize later this year, and a new chargé who will take over Gilges’ own post has already been selected.

“It has been an incredible honour; it has been the honour of my career to get to serve for these two and a half and ultimately be three years as chargé. We do look forward to the administration appointing an ambassador and somebody coming in soon. I don’t have any news on that yet, but I know that ambassadors are actively under consideration by the administration. So hopefully sometime in the all you will get a proper ambassador here.”
