U.S. Embassy Comments on Belizean Migrant Child

The standard-four Belizean student who was included in a Breitbart News bilingual interview with several other young people making the trek to the U.S./Mexico border is reportedly safe in the United States.  While that may be the case for this one particular child, her journey to the U.S. unaccompanied by an adult came with great risks.  Today, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy Keith Gilges advised parents not to take such chances.

“At this point, no that wouldn’t be the Embassy’s affairs because now it’s up in the United States. I can only hope she is safe. I read the same media accounts that other people did that says she is safe with her father. Is, again, that a lucky outcome? Yeah, if you are a parent please do not roll those dices.”
