Doctors advise how to fight holiday goma
Come tomorrow morning, more than one head will be bent over the toilet after a booze filled night. You might have your own recipe for taking care of “goma” but here are a few experts in the highly specialized field whose advice might just save you some pain.
Dr. Francis Smith
“You want to drink plenty of water or juices but then there’s also the complications of vomits or nausea… so you might want to take something for gastro intestinal disorders like maxolon or just antacids. If you have to go to work, pack up on caffeine, drink a lot of coffee but if not the best thing is to try to go to sleep.”
Dr. Bernard Bulwer
“We all know that people should not be drinking on an empty stomach. They are some people who say a gram or more of vitamin C and some B complex vitamins may cut down on the hangover effect. If you are in a meeting, a gathering a party or something and if you are drinking don’t just hang around and drink until you drop. There some things people need to know that sweet drinks. Sweetened alcoholic drinks, whether it’s fruit punch or some kind of liqueur they may seem to contain a little bit of alcohol but when you add the numbers up, it adds up being quite a bit.”
Barbara Fernandez, Herb Specialist
“They should take cedar bark. A nice good hot cup.”
Q: “How you prepare cedar?”
Barbara Fernandez
“Oh you take the cedar, and mash the fresh bark, or any bark of cedar, mash it, put it in boiling water, let it steep, let it off and then you get a nice good cup.”
Q: “And how it taste?”
Barbara Fernandez
“Well not so very nice but it is very good.”
Q: “So that cleans out everything?”
Barbara Fernandez
“Yes, it removes all the stale drinks.”
Doctors advise that prescription medicines, as well as over the counter remedies like aspirin and Tylenol should not be combined with alcohol as they can lead to serious liver damage. The experts do have one final piece of advice… the best cure for “goma” is to not drink at all.
