COVID-19 Numbers Down to 85
The latest COVID-19 data shows that the numbers are once again on the decline. Today, there are five new confirmed cases, bringing the total number of active cases to eighty-five. While there were no deaths recorded for some days now, the total deaths reported are three hundred and twenty-three since the pandemic began. There were also seven new recoveries and the daily positivity rate is down to one point two percent. Doctor Beer says that the Ministry of Health and Wellness continues with outreach and testing.
Dr. Natalia Largaespada Beer, Maternal & Child Health Technical Advisor, M.O.H.W.
“We need to remind ourselves that COVID-19 is transmitted from person to person. Persons who may be infected, eighty percent of them are asymptomatic and hence the reason, even if we receive a first and second dose of vaccine, we have to continue protecting ourselves because we don’t know exactly who is infected or not. The Ministry of Health and Wellness has invested in providing and rolling out the rapid testing, not only at health facility, but at community level. So we highly encourage community members to make much of these outreach sessions providing rapid testing because that is the only way we will know where is the increased number cases so we can intervene with the community to contain the transmission of the virus.”
