The Party is Over for COVID-19 Violators at Sea
The Commissioner of Police is sending a strong warning to anyone hosting social gatherings contrary to COVID-19 regulations. This includes those individuals and companies who have become creative and are now hosting parties on boats out at sea. ComPol Williams says the police department is working with the Belize Coast Guard and they will find your party boat.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“If the law provides that these activities are prohibited, it is the duty of the police officers to ensure that these laws are enforced. At the end of the day doing, it is to safeguard all of us. Because when we have this handful of people for their own aggrandizement want to throw parties here there and everywhere, and then they cost majority of our people to become infected again, then where do we go? It puts you at risk, me at risk, the entire population at risk. I just simply call upon people to please act responsibly. It is not because we see the numbers are low that we do everything we want to do. We still need to be extremely careful in what we do to ensure we do not get infected and infect others. That is simply what the police is doing, ensuring that people abide with the regulations. All these boats that are having big sippers and all those things. I am communicating with the coast guard, and we are going to hunt them down on the seas, because it needs to stop. They are putting the people of this country at risk and it cannot be countenanced no more.”
