DYS Staff in Quarantine
As a result of this infected staff member, the DYS has taken the precaution of closing the office for a week and to get staff members who came in contact with the patient tested.
Kevin Bernard, Minister of Youth
“In order for us to ensure that there is no spread we have also asked that the office be closed temporarily that the staff be quarantined while we await the results of both Ms Enid and in this case our Director who was also in Orange Walk. So, he himself who is here can tell you that he isn’t having any symptoms but will also tell you that he is taking those precautionary measures and will be tested tomorrow. The Youth Department deals with a lot of people. A lot of young people come to the office to get work done and so we have decided that we are going to close operations for the mean time until we are satisfied there is no effect on anybody else within the department. Until such date then we are going to be opening back for normal service once we are in the clear. But I want to clear the air that there is no issue of major spread because they don’t have the data as yet. We only know that one individual who tested positive.”
Minister Bernard says that the office spaces will be sanitized.
