Dental Services Resume at Cleopatra White Polyclinic
As you saw just now, the Ministry of Health and Wellness reopened the newly renovated dental clinic at the Cleopatra White Polyclinic in Belize City. But the dental services scaled down for an extended period due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Minister of Health Michel Chebat says that although there are still COVID-19 exposure concerns, they felt it was necessary to restart the dental services since they have refurbished the facility.
Michel Chebat, Minister of Health & Wellness
“Because of the COVID-19 pandemic many of our services, other services, apart from the streamline COVID-19 services had to be put on halt and because of the exposure for the doctors and the patients and because of the close proximity with which dentists work with patient it is very high risk and so the dental services were put on pause for a while but with the numbers having gone down we felt it was important to start providing the other services and with this clinic having been newly renovated, we felt it was time to reintegrate those services.”

“What about hazardous allowance because they mentioned this has become very dangerous now since COVID. Are the people working there getting that allowance?”
Michel Chebat
“Well, the services were paused during the height of the pandemic so I don’t know that they are receiving hazardous allowance at this time.”

“Going forward?”
Michel Chebat
“Perhaps it is something we can look at definitely.”
