Health Minister of Vaccination Benefits
The goal is to reach herd immunity, which is to have about seventy percent of the country’s population vaccinated. One hundred and twenty-one thousand four hundred and eighty-seven persons have received their first vaccination so far and forty-six thousand five hundred and ninety-six are fully vaccinated. The data is showing that of the COVID-19 patients who are hospitalized, majority have not been vaccinated. Health Minister Michel Chebat says that the vaccine has numerous benefits.
Michel Chebat, Minister of Health & Wellness
“Once you get vaccinated, it does couple things. It prevents you from getting severe symptoms, it prevents you from being hospitalized and it prevents you from dying. The other thing that is not spoken too much about is that once you are vaccinated, even if you contract the virus, your viral load is so low that the possibility of you spreading it to somebody else becomes minimal. And that is important because we know that the virus is spread by human contact. So the more contact you have with people, the more exposed you are. But when you’re vaccinated, it brings down the capacity of you transmitting to somebody else.”
