PM Tests Negative; Urges All Belizeans to Get Vaccinated
On Tuesday, word spread that someone in the Prime Minister’s Office had tested positive for COVID-19. News Five confirmed that everyone has been tested and that was the only positive case, someone who was out of the country for the past two weeks and therefore did not interact with other staff. The Prime Minister, who did have contact with the infected person, has tested negative. Today the government press office issued a video statement. In it, he addresses the need for all Belizeans to get vaccinated.
Prime Minister John Briceño
“Vaccination is our civic duty to each other. Getting vaccinated means getting back to school, getting our economy on track. And most importantly, saving lives. Of course, we also have to keep wearing our face masks, washing our hands regularly and watching our distance. Because we are Belize at forty, and with hopeful hearts, and steady hands, together we will rise. Thanks and God Bless. And have a safe week.”
