Central Health Region Ready for Pfizer Adolescent Roll Out
On Wednesday, Belize received one hundred and eleven thousand one hundred and fifty doses of Pfizer vaccine courtesy of the U.S. Government. Plans are already in place for administering it to children from ages twelve to seventeen. In the Belize District, there are sixty primary schools and eighteen high schools, and consent forms are being sent to parents for children to take the vaccine. Two vaccinations stations will be set up starting Monday, August twenty-third and Doctor Melissa Diaz-Musa says that the Central Health Region is ready.

“We have decided that we are going to use two large auditoriums to distribute Pfizer. One will be the SJC gym and the second one will be Swift Hall. We have been using Swift Hall from March of 2021 to give Astra and Sinopharm. So, what we have done as well is that we have split up the schools and we’re going to give allotted days for certain schools at these two locations. In doing that, we hope that we don’t have a very long waiting time; we hope that we don’t have a lot of people gathering close together. And, we hope to be efficient and effective in distributing these vaccines in the Belize District. So, we’re asking – the Ministry of Education has been working along with us. We have received the information that we’ve needed – we’ve asked them for – the number of students per class, the age ranges of the students; the consent form has been sent out with information leaflets as well so that parents can read this before and we’re now ready for Monday morning to start our distributing of Pfizer. It will be from ages twelve to seventeen. That’s the target population for Pfizer and we’re going to start from sixteen and seventeen for the first few days and we will slowly make the announcement as the age ranges go down.”
