Will Schools Reopen for Face-to-Face on October 4th?
Active COVID-19 cases continue to rise and the planned reopening of face-to-face learning in school on October fourth remains up-in-the-air, despite strong efforts to get students ages twelve to seventeen vaccinated. Today, News Five spoke with Minister of Education, Francis Fonseca about the plan for the phased reopening in less than three weeks.
Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education
“Schools are open but all virtually. Our hope and our expectation is that we can return to face-to-face instruction. Again, it will be a hybrid approach so all schools will not be able to open. But we’ve put in place a structured system so that when schools reach a particular target in terms of vaccinations, once we are satisfied that they have a particularly good structure in place within their schools, on campus, to provide the protocols that are in place then we will allow schools to open. So that still remains our objective, the vaccination rollout continues, we encourage our students to get the vaccine; we encourage families to get the vaccine.”
