Bus Operators Support Vaccine Mandate

We also asked President Shaw if the Association has a position on the October first vaccine mandate, which will require commuters to show their vaccine passes before entering any public transportation. He says there are some operators, who have not taken it, but ninety-five percent of the Association’s membership has gotten vaccinated, and the majority of operators are in support of the regulation.

On the Phone: Thomas Shaw, President, Belize Bus Association

“I did get calls from a couple of our operators, but really and truly the operators, most of the time,  I would suggest for people that are spreading fake news out there and saying the vaccine will do you this and do you that, if you don’t have the information then don’t put it out there… But, if you look globally, the vaccine is actually what is saving lives. So, whenever the operators call me, I try to be positive, and let them know that if you believe and you don’t want to take it, and then fine. But, apparently, apart from that, most of the operators are on board and say if that is what we got to do to really bring back this economy and get back to normalcy, of which I think will be a long way off, but it’s more positive than negative.”
