Dr. Pott Urges Belizeans to do Their Part to Fight COVID
Earlier this week we heard medical doctors speak directly to people who have been ignoring the COVID guidelines or being outright rebellious in refusing to follow them, resulting in a high number of new infections. Dr. Shanna Pott also joined her colleagues in scolding people who have been irresponsible in their behavior and refusing to do their part to stop the spread.

“The vaccines are there. They’re there for our safety. Not just vaccination but practicing everything that has been set in place. We’re out here complaining about the curfew, about wearing masks, about the social distancing. The restaurants and bars keep filling up, and we’re not considering our healthcare workers who are overwhelmed. It’s not only limited resources, but limited human resources at this point. Our lost a lot of our nurses as well – a lot of the Filipino nurses that left. So we are at a critical moment, and yes, it may just come to that [moment] where patients will be dying in the streets waiting for care. We just saw that very sad case in San Pedro where a woman died in the waiting area. But the doctors and nurses are overwhelmed. So, while it is easy to point fingers, you should really try to do your part in this pandemic.”
