No Movement Sundays
Additionally, Sunday, September twenty-sixth, and October third are declared no movement days. A person will, however, be able to leave home for medical purposes, emergencies, as an essential worker, for food supplies and fuel. Additionally, businesses that provide public transportation and hotels and resorts for the purpose of serving guests, are also allowed movement. ComPol Williams also offered clarity on this.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“Many questions have been asked in terms of the no-movement Sunday, as it relates to what is permissible from what is not. I think the regulations make it clear that there are certain services that will remain open on Sunday. So long as the person is moving to obtain one of those services, then the person’s movement will be lawful. But if you are moving for one of those purposes, your movement will be unlawful and you will be ticketed by the police. The Phillip Goldson International Airport remains open on Sunday. Many people have asked him, what if I have a relative coming in on Sunday, can I go pick up that person? The answer is yes. You just need to get a copy of your relative’s itinerary. Or, if you are a hotelier and you are going to pick up guests, have the itinerary for your guests that are coming in. You can produce the itinerary to the police if you are stopped, to say that you are going to pick up X Y Z.”
