Undocumented Immigrants and Vaccination

Andre Perez

Undocumented immigrants are another vulnerable population that is being considered for vaccination. According to Perez, undocumented immigrants are often fearful of visiting a vaccine center because of their status. He has given assurance that undocumented immigrants will not be penalized when they visit a vaccination center.

“That is also the other issue we will discuss. At the national level we have to do it in Spanish and English, that letting our people undocumented, especially our Central American brothers and sisters who are undocumented. We have a responsibility to them as well. We are a country of standards that we respect our brothers and sisters of Central America. And, in terms of this disease, this pandemic does care, it doesn’t know if you are documented or not. So we have to do it as a responsibility to let everybody say come out and get vaccinated. We are not here to say if you are illegal or not, any kind of ID. And, if you don’t have any id we will still give you the vaccine.”
