92% of Belize Coast Guard Vaccinated
The Belize Coast Guard is a law enforcement agency that is taking no chances with COVID-19. So far, ninety-two percent of the military organization has been vaccinated and there are only five of its members that are currently infected with the virus. Commandant Captain Elton Bennett says that they have procedures in place to address positive cases within the coast guard.

“We have our standard operating procedures depending on where those individuals are. If they are at home, they remain at that location; if they are out on duty, we treat that deployment as isolation for themselves. We don’t want to bring them home and for them to infect their families. And so for those that are deployment, we keep a close watch on that; of course they are separated in different quarters so we keep a watchful eye on that on a regular basis giving updates throughout the day on the health status of those individuals. But broadly speaking, the coast guard is up to ninety-two percent vaccinated and we are improving in that regard. Those that have not been vaccinated, I’m sure will do so before the October change in policy. It just takes a little more encouragement and a little more education for those individuals to come along. So we do believe we will be at ninety-eight percent hopefully by the end of September.”
