You are Not Fully Vaccinate until 14 Days after Second Dose
While only one dose of the Janssen vaccine is recommended, all other vaccines are two doses. Doctor Diaz-Musa stresses that you are not fully vaccinated until fourteen days after that second shot. If you haven’t received your second jab, the additional layer of protection is not there and you remain vulnerable.
Dr. Melissa Diaz-Musa, Deputy Regional Health Manager, Central Health Region
“The Ministry of Health and Wellness, we’ve made an appeal to everyone out there just to ensure that if eight weeks has passed that they are aware that they can come in for the second dose. As had been mentioned before, we were initially giving twelve-week appointments, but because we are seeing a significant outbreak and because we do know that at eight weeks efficacy is excellent as well, we are now calling on persons who have received the first dose to kindly come in, check your card, come in. Once you’ve seen that eight weeks has passed since your first dose, please come and get your second dose. And I want to stress the point that you’re not fully vaccinated with one vaccine of AstraZeneca or a Pfizer or a Sinopharm; these are two-dose vaccines. So you do need the second dose and we would consider you fully vaccinated fourteen days after the last dose of that vaccine.”
