UN Speech Includes Condemnation of US Embargo Against Cuba
Siding with the nation of Cuba, during his UN address, Prime Minister Briceño referred to the US embargo against Cuba as illegal, cruel, and inhumane. He says the embargo has been widened under the Biden administration, causing millions of innocent people to suffer.
Prime Minister John Briceño
“The persistent call of the General Assembly over three decades to end the illegal embargo against the Cuban people have been ignored. The Cuban people are forced to carve out its sustainable development under the burden of the illegal, unilateral, economic, commercial and financial embargo. The new measures imposed by the past US Administration, and now continued and widened by the present one, during pandemic, are unbelievably cruel and inhumane. These measures bring suffering to millions of innocent people, and do not reflect the good will of the people of the United States of America. Nevertheless, Cuba have made significant sacrifices to help other people in the world including Belizeans.”
PM Briceño also reaffirmed Belize’s support the aspirations of the Palestinians for an Independent State, with its 1967 borders, with all attendant rights, including East Jerusalem as its capital.
