What are the Priorities at the K.H.M.H.?

Chandra Cansino

As incoming C.E.O., Cansino says that there are many priorities at the K.H.M.H. – in the short-term, the COVID-19 pandemic, but then there must be a shift in services it offers and in public perception, which often has a negative view of the national referral hospital.

Chandra Cansino, Incoming C.E.O., K.H.M.H.

“The COVID-19 situation; the numbers don’t seem to be going down as we would like to see them so we have short-term, medium-term and long-term goals for the K.H.M.H. and of course the short-term is to get through the pandemic – to be able to support staff as much as possible, ensure their safety and security so that we can therefore ensure the patient safety and security. So I would think that is the priority in the short-term. And then in the medium term to conduct a comprehensive assessment of where…K.H.M.H. has a lot of great things happening there and so it is really to just conduct a comprehensive assessment along with the present board and look at where the priorities will be for the medium term. We see them primarily being improving – customer service might not be a word that we are used to hearing when it comes to a hospital, but we really need to improve customer service. We need to improve areas where persons can have access to air their concerns, air their complaints. Assessing current policies, reviewing policies; looking at our human resources, organizational structure. I think we will really conduct a comprehensive review of where we are – stick with the things that are working well and fix the things that are not.”
