Prime Minister Urges Belizeans to Adhere to COVID Protocols

Prime Minister John Briceno made an appearance on Open Your Eyes this morning. Among the many issues he addressed was why his administration decided to lift the no-movement Sundays. He says success in the fight against COVID-19 will come from Belizeans adhering to basic measures and getting vaccinated.

“We can’t lock up the entire country. We tried on two Sundays and it dipped a little bit. So, we are starting to see the signs that it is going to go down. And, by the end of the month we are going to see it starting to go down some more. But, the point is that we could lock up for two weeks and it wah slow down, but the minute we open the doors again and start to move around, and we are not careful, and we will not be careful, you know Belizeans. It will start to spread again and it will spread just as quickly if we are not careful. So it will come to the basics, social distance, wear your mask and then get bloody vaccinated, sorry, get vaccinated. That is it. It is not rocket science.”
