P.S.U. Slams Proposed New Posts at Ministry of Health

Tonight, President of the Public Service Union Dean Flowers is speaking out about the amendment of the Public Health Act. The amendment, which will be tabled before the House of Representatives on Tuesday, will see the creation of a Director of Public Health and Wellness and a Director of Hospital Services – making the post of the Director of Health Services redundant. Flowers says that G.O.B. is once again tampering with the law, this time to get Doctor Marvin Manzanero out.

“The immediate reaction from our general membership was wow, what a shame. Here is another instance of an administration that is incapable of dealing with the issues that are affecting the public service in the respective ministries. And instead of addressing the issues, they have chosen to personalize those issues and address the individual. We see them moving to tamper with the Public Health Act to address Doctor Manza. The Public Service Union has stated before if it is that there is evidence or anything to suggest that Doctor Manza is not suited for the position or is guilty for anything, then address those issues and deal with the person. However, simply because you don’t like the person or you don’t view the person to be a loyalist or a supporter or blue enough, then you don’t do the best to work with that individual. There has been absolutely no attempt by this administration to work with current Director of Health Services.”
