Omicron is Elusive to Immunity

Dr. Marvin Manzanero

According to Doctor Manzanero, what is equally of concern is the shortened time span when people can become re-infected with COVID.  Omicron, he says, is capable of coming back.

“In terms of strains, for example, Omicron what it seems to do is it has learned how to evade immunity.  So you can become, and that’s why it’s not, the term “mild” makes me a little uncomfortable because you can get it more than once.  I mean, recall that in the initial variants you had people saying [that] six to nine months of natural immunity is what it seems to give you, but we are noticing that people had COVID in November and early December last year and I just met a colleague who recovered during the first week of December and tested positive on Monday, and symptomatic, you know, it’s not just… it is a re-infection then, you can’t say it is residual from what happened.”
