Belizean American Killed in New York Club
In diaspora news…the nephew of well-known Belizean American news anchor Kendis Gibson was murdered in a New Your nightclub over the weekend. News outlets in New York are reporting that the victim, twenty-two-year-old Miles Gibson was fatally stabbed during a dispute, allegedly involving a woman. The incident occurred at the Harbor Rooftop Terrance and Lounge on West 46th Street by 11th Avenue around four a.m. on Saturday. The unidentified assailant fled the scene and Gibson was rushed to the Bellevue Hospital, but succumbed to the injury. The New York Post says that according to public records, Miles Gibson is one of two men charged in connection with the murder of D.J. Oliver Askia outside Krystal Bar and Lounge in Morris Heights in November 2019. He was out on a half a million dollar bail and was scheduled to reappear in court along with the second suspect, Luis Morillo, this Wednesday.
