PAHO Trains Health Managers in the Public Health System
For the next few months, managers in the Ministry of Health and Wellness are engaging in a capacity building workshop. The event sees the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization playing an integral part in providing the training. PAHO’s Health Systems Advisor, Dr. Edwin Bolastig explains the scope of the assistance they are giving, since oftentimes health professionals graduate from the respective academic programs without the benefit of management training and are placed in managerial positions.

“We’ll provide health managers with a better understanding of health data supported management as well as the application and use of improved information tools for evidence-informed decision-making with the aim of facilitating positive changes in management and service delivery. Without a doubt, this training is vital to enhancing the managerial and decision-making skills of middle to senior-level managers within the health system.”
