Belize in Kigali, Rwanda for Commonwealth
Today marked the opening of the Commonwealth Business and People’s Forums in Kigali, Rwanda. The Commonwealth Business Forum brought together over fifteen hundred delegates from Commonwealth member states, for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the opening ceremony, the Right Honourable Patricia Scotland, the Commonwealth Secretary General was joined by the Prime Minister of the Bahamas and other dignitaries to deliberate on key global issues and the role of the Commonwealth in leading a quote, global reset. The Commonwealth People’s Forum is being held under the theme, Delivering a Common Future: Our Health, Our Planet, And Our Future. The forum is scheduled for today and tomorrow. Meanwhile, following days of deliberations, the Commonwealth Youth Forum came to an end today with the presentation of a six-point action plan on youth development. This action plan is being called The Youth Declaration. This declaration will form the topic of discussion on Saturday when these young leaders meet with heads of government during an intergenerational dialogue. Belize has representation at the Business and People’s Forum as well as the Youth Forum.
