Adele Catzim-Sanchez, C.E.O., PathLight Belize
“It is an honor for PathLight Belize to be signing this Cooperation Agreement with the O.A.S. and witnessed by the Prime Minister of Belize. We are here because we believe that we are, throughout our joint projects, through collaboration, able to contribute to sustainable human development through education. We believe that education is a thread that runs through all aspects of sustainable development. And currently, we are working alongside the Government for Belize to provide turnkey solutions through teacher training and after school programs. We started out as a very small operation in 2-007 by providing scholarships to only four students to attend secondary school. Since then we have grown. We have a resource center in three parts of the country. And today, we are providing full scholarship opportunities to students to attend secondary and tertiary school. We also have robust teacher training program. I am happy to say that we are working alongside our government to train every single teacher in secondary and primary schools in new methodology of competence based learning and problem based learning.”
Luis Almagro, O.A.S. Secretary General
“This is a special occasion to recognize PathLight for their effort help the government to transform Belize by educating and developing the future generation of leaders by offering teacher training and after school program as turnkey solutions. The agreement we are signing today between O.A.S. and PathLight Belize establishes the terms and cooperation in capacity building through teachers training.”
