Medical Professionals Celebrate Medical Laboratory Professionals Week with Health Fair

This week, medical and health professionals are celebrating Medical Laboratory Professionals Week and today they held a health fair at the Central Health Region on Princess Margaret Drive. In attendance were personnel from different laboratories in Belize District, as well as the Kidney Association and other labs that were offering free tests for the day. Coupled with those, there were raffles, and discount vouchers that the public benefited from. Supervisor of the Molecular Biology Unit at the Central Health Region, Ruby Aguillon explained that the individual health labs and institutions come up with their own free services that they will provide at the event from year to year.

“They come up with ideas on how to create awareness of our lab. We just give them the – we opened a floor for them to have and showcase what they can provide to the public. So every year is something different. Sometimes you just have information booths or, like I said, discounts. This year we have raffles, we have vouchers, giveaways, and stuff like that.”
