Ministry of Education Not Worried about COVID/Dengue
As we’ve been reporting, there has been an increase in dengue cases in Belize and the number of cases recorded countrywide is above the threshold. There are also instances of active COVID cases still popping up. As the new school year approaches, Minister of Education Francis Fonseca was asked whether these two illnesses are of concern.

“We asked the Minister of Health yesterday in cabinet about that issue. He assured us that there had been a few cases, but here and there. But he assured us that the Ministry of Health is not concerned about any real outbreak of COVID. They are monitoring the situation very carefully, but for the most part, again, people are developing mild cases of COVID so it is not a question of people going back into the hospital, but it is being monitored by the Ministry of Health.”
