“It will be held, I mean, this is not an authoritarian regime. This is a democracy and I believe that when you ask for a permit, it is just a matter of, to me, courtesy. It really is a matter of courtesy when you notify the police. Certainly, as prime minister under a UDP government, we would have those laws amended to create greater freedoms and greater liberties and to highlight and underline the liberties of all people to demonstrate or protest the government. Even when we are in government, I can promise you that’s what we’ll do because this notion that the Commissioner of Police can pretend as if he’s some authoritarian figure to decide what is a worthwhile protest and what is not and what will be an embarrassment and what won’t, he’s an embarrassment. One of the people we want to protest is him.”
