K.H.M.H. Commission of Inquiry report passed on to PM

The Commission of Inquiry into questionable purchasing practices at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital was completed on December eighteenth, 2009 and today the report from the panel reached the prime minister’s desk. Supreme Court Justice Adolph Lucas chaired the commission, with Julia Castillo representing the Ministry of Health and Orvin Nicholas nominated by the National Trade Union Congress of Belize as the other two members. The three were to analyze the procedures used in purchasing pharmaceuticals, medical supplies at equipment at the K.H.M.H. from the first of January 2007 to June thirtieth 2009. Concerns were raised by members of the Belize Medical and Dental union that the hospitals executive was paying exorbitant prices through sweetheart deals with suppliers. A release from the government press office today says that the details will be made public as soon as possible but there was nothing alluding to its content except to say that it is one hundred and six pages long and would contain recommendations on required corrective measures. During the process however, there were indications of serious wrongdoings and we can only hope that the penalties will be more than a slap on the wrist.

What happend to the DFC inquirie a couple of years back? Anyone get prosecuted over that, were the results released to the public? NO! Same will happen to this. Belizeans once again get to pay more taxes to help the already rich get a lot richer!

This will be the last we’ll hear of this. the ones that did the enquiry got paid handsomely for it though, at taxpayers expense, of that we will have no doubt!

People have to remember dat dah Belize we deh, corruption fills the air we breath…its all around us…we see it everywhere and in a way its within all of us like some sort of virus. Yes, they will pass that inquiry onto the PM, but more than likely nothing will become of it besides it being filed and placed in a desk to gather dust. Belize is the only country where we often see the biggest criminals being rewarded for their oustanding ability of beating the system and shafting the tax payers time and time again without ever being held accountable for their devious actions. Like the saying goes…” barking dogs seldom bite..” The PM talks the talk but can he really walk the walk? I don’t think so …What about his campain slogan with his government being transparent? Since the issue with the KHMH moved out of the spotlight everything calmed down and nothing was heard of what would happen and who was going to get punished. As sad as it is to say, not even a slap on the wrist is going to take place anytime now nor in the future….the situation will be left as is and nothing will be done to bring justice to those who have done wrong. Typical disgusting political attitude in Belize and i’m sick of it……
