Jamaican Gleaner worries about Belize Constitution Amendment

As we said, the Jamaica’s Gleaner, in this Sunday edition, took on the question of the Ninth Amendment, head on.  The editorial surmised that Belize was heading down a slippery slope.   The Gleaner likened the government’s attempt to the skinning of a cat, which in the end, would result in great collateral damage and at cost far greater than intended. The editorial ends ominously warning that “Mr. Barrow should be warned that his government’s action is having a chilling effect on the private sector and is bad for Belize’s economy. But worse, this high-handed behavior, because he has the parliamentary numbers, poses graver danger for Belizean democracy.”

Excellent comment SOMEONE & BZEAN PRIDE. Bze has been a model of peace and tranquility in Central America & the Caribbean. The editorial comment is only suggesting that Bze is being watched from outside. Many times we can see that everything is excellent in our house but the neighbor may be observing something unusual occurring. So if we are concerned citizens then we should come in grips with really, analyze events, use our thinking skills and arrive at conclusions to prevent what the comments might be suggesting.
Will Belize become the next Haiti or Grenada? Or like Nicaragua under Somoza?
The 9th amendment should not be taken lightly! It can change the history of Belize. The History of Belize, a nation transformed to dictatorial rule!
