George Price Biography on Top 10 List
George Price: A Life Revealed, the autobiography of the Father of the Nation, has been launched locally and in London and has been well received. In the region, the publication has made it onto the long list of ten books up for the 2012 One Caribbean Media Bocas Prize for Caribbean Literature. The biography, authored by Attorney Godfrey Smith, is in the non-fiction category along with the Olympian: 75 Years of Trinidad and Tobago in Olympic Sport by Basil Ince and Colour Me English: Thoughts About Migrations and Belonging Before and After 9/11, by Caryl Phillips of St. Kitts. The list also includes seven other books in the categories of poetry and fiction for a total of ten writers, representing six Caribbean countries. A shortlist, consisting of winners from each of the three genre categories will be announced on March sixteenth and the grand prize winner will be announced on April twenty-eighth during the second annual N.G.C. Bocas Lit Fest in Port of Spain. The books were chosen from a total of forty-five read by the judges and the winning piece of literature earns the author ten thousand US dollars sponsored by One Caribbean Media.
