Girl with dangerous tumor on her face getting surgery

There is an update tonight on twelve year old Catarina Ishim, who left for the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville, last Friday. It’s the first trip overseas for the San Pablo, Toledo young girl who will be getting surgery for an aggressive cancerous tumor called leiomyosarcoma. Through correspondence with her hosts in the U.S, we were informed that the little girl arrived safely, is eating well and in good spirits. Since her arrival, she has made no complaints of pain and is breathing without difficulty. In order to prepare Catarina for surgery, her pediatrician, doctor Rick Glover is ensuring that she gets as much nutrition as possible before the rigorous procedure begins. The doctors along with specialists John Little and Kathleen Herbig, who will be the primary surgeons, have started reviewing Catarina’s medical history. Upon the completion of their assessment, the date for surgery will be determined. For almost two years, Catarina has fought the recurring tumor and despite two surgeries the tumor kept growing covering most of her face. After three weeks at the K.H.M.H. and assistance from good Samaritans, free medical attention was offered to Catarina by two Christian Missions in the U.S. We will continue to monitor her condition and keep you abreast of Catarina’s progress.
