Shipment of Belize beans found contaminated
Belizeans love their rice and beans, but half of that equation is getting a bad rap in the Caribbean. According to the Jamaica Observer, their government has seized another imported shipment of food deemed unfit for consumption. The article says, “Approximately twenty-two point seven-three metric tonnes of red kidney beans (red peas), valued at more than two point six million dollars, imported from Belize by a local distributor was found to be contaminated with rodent droppings and was confiscated.”
Apparently the contaminated beans, which were packed in seven hundred and fifty bags, were discovered following routine inspection of a container at a storage facility at the Kingston Harbor where they were being kept. Samples were collected and submitted to a Rodent Biology and Control Laboratory for identification where the results revealed that the contaminants were rodent filth. BAHA normally inspects agricultural products destined for export. A fee is also charged to exporters. News Five contacted BAHA, but there was no one who could comment on the container of red kidney beans and rat feces.

That serves the Mennonites and the corrupt BAHA/officials well, they not care about the health of the people that consume their products, they only cares about the $$$MONEY$$$!!! those Mennonites/Moneynites should also be charged a hefty fee for exporting contaminated products. When I just read the news I thought that it was contaminated with ROUNDUP they sprayed their products,beans, rice corn etc with herbicides to dry them (desiccate) so that they can reap sooner and make more $$$MONEY$$$>!!!! They should be flogged and JAILED!!!!!!
This is very serious and needs more highlight from BAHA. WE NEED RESPONSE FROM BAHA OR MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE NOW, SINCE THEY CHARGE FOR THESE INSPECTIONS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Out of 4 comments only one actually got the story correct.. Perhaps we need to change the laws with respect to education. How about all are required to finish high school, instead of just to the 8th grade. The BEANS were “EXPORTED FROM” Belize. WE did not import them….

agree with toucan-lots of people in BZ and other places would be much more hungry. we should be much more thankful for them instead kicking to curb for being greedy. they are feeding this country. maybe john doe need to do some learning instead of criticizing.
chances are the infected containers we’re infected there while in storage not when they left , it needs more investigation deeply. Also a warning call for BAHA to do a rigorous check up on all exported product of our Jewel to prevent further problems that can affect our local/international in products like this.
