Ground broken on San Ignacio health facility
Following official ground breaking ceremonies in the Cayo District, contractors are now implementing the first stages of construction for the new San Ignacio Community Hospital. The site is located on the Bullet Tree Road in San Ignacio Town. According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Health, the twenty-four thousand square foot facility will provide preventative and curative health care from outpatient, accident and emergency units as well as labour and delivery services from the maternity wing. The hospital, which will also include a regional management team office and a services building, will be constructed by the Mena Group of Companies’ Jebco Construction at a cost of four point four million dollars with the completion date set for December. Loan funding is being accessed through the Health Sector Reform Project of the Inter-American Development Bank.
