Que Viva Mexico! Neighbors to help with bridge construction

Felipe Calderon

Mexican President, Felipe Calderon, who is soon demitting office, is seeking to have members of that country’s military deployed to Belize to assist with the construction of a road to the Santa Elena Bi-national Border Bridge in Corozal. The new bridge, which is to facilitate more efficient and secure movement of people and goods, has been in the works for about five years, but Belize has not met its end of the deal for the construction of the road and a facility. Mexico is now taking on the construction on Belize’s side of the border. According to press reports, President Calderon is asking the Mexican Senate and Department of Defense to authorize the use of an unarmed eleven member team; a colonel, a captain, a lieutenant and eight troop elements for the project, which is expected to last four weeks.

Why, in 5 years, was GOB unable to assemble a mere 11 member team to fulfill our commitment? I’m embarrassed.

Goes to show the goodness of Spanish people because they know that this pm is the biggest bigot and very prejudice against Spanish people and anyone who is not black. So I am sure he is doing it for the people of Belize and not for this gov.

Belize reminds me of the welfare recipients here in the US.As long as they keep getting money every month without working for it,they will keep depending on someone else for the rest of their natural life.So is belize. They cannot build or do anything without outside help.Prove me wrong.

Guess the drug runners can do a better job building bridges and roads. Sorry Mr Barrow just took all the money. Why not ask the Cartel to donate since they have meetings and conventions at the Free Zone.
