Marleny Castellanos and her husband get Supreme Court bail
The alleged master-mind in an immigration scam, Marleny Elizabeth Castellanos and her common-law-husband, Alfredo Marcos, were both granted bail around twelve o’clock despite strong objections from the office of D.P.P. on the basis that the couple is considered a flight risk. Justice Troadio Gonzalez granted bail in the sum of twenty thousand dollars to Castellanos, while bail for her husband, Marcos, was set at ten thousand dollars. But the couple must report to the Queen Street Police Station every Friday, beginning June twenty-seventh. Castellanos is the mother of Belizean born children and one is allegedly ill. It is reported that when she was charged initially for the offenses, she was detained at the western border. Her attorney told the court that she was taking her ill daughter to seek medical condition in Guatemala. In objecting to bail today, Prosecutor Leroy Banner said that both are considered flight risks, but Judge Gonzalez was of the view that there is nothing before the court to show that they are not Belizeans. Their next court date is set for sometime in July, 2014. As recent as June twelfth 2014, Castellanos was before the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where she was slapped with twenty additional charges for aiding person to use document they were not entitled to. So far she has been slapped with a total of forty-two counts while her husband is facing six. She is accused to facilitating birth and national certificates to a number of Central American nationals using the names and personal information of deceased Belizeans.
She could have never run immigration fraud busuness if there was no one on the inside facilitating!
